698 applicants got Rs 24 lakh waiver in Suwidha camps On first day
Kapurthala, October 24 (Punjab Post Bireau) – In kapurthala district the campaign to waive off the outstanding
amount of electricity Bill upto 2 KW as per the newly introduced policy of Punjab Government, the ” Suwidha camps ” were organized at Kapurthala and Sultanpur lodhi. On the very first day total 698 eligible applicants got waiver of Rs. 24 lakh .
A camp was held at sant Nagar mohalla of Kapurthala city where former MLA Mrs Rajbans Kaur Rana launched the service to facilitate the people. She called it a historic decision of Punjab Government as it would provide a sigh of relief to the all economically weaker sections of society.
In Sultanpur lodhi the Suwidha camp was organized at local PSPCL office and the campaign was started by the MLA Navtej Singh Cheema. In the camp 478 applicants received the waiver worth Rs 18 lakh. The MLA said that the Punjab Government would reimburse the waiver amount to the PSPCL to avoid fiscal burden on the board.
Deputy Chief Engineer/ Distribution Mr Inderpal singh and Additional SE Kapurthala Darshan Singh said that district have nearly 37000 domestic electricity connections having capacity of 2 KW. They said that the PSPCL would ensure to cover all the eligible people to avail this benefit. They also said that disconnected connections due to nonpayment of electricity bill would also be restored without charging any amount from the owner. They also informed that to facilitate people more such camps would be organized in next days at sub division level.
