GNDU University organized Inter-Department Arm Wrestling Championships

Amritsar, January 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Guru Nanak Dev University Campus Sports organized Inter-Department Arm Wrestling (Boys/Girls) championships under FIT INDIA Program (Govt. of India) which concluded in the campus of Guru Nanak Dev University. 64 Boys and 27 Girls from various departments of the University participated in these championships.

Dr. Amandeep Singh Teacher In-charge GNDU Campus Sports & Nodal Officer – GNDU FIT INDIA Program, Govt. of India said that, in the Category of Up to 65 kg in men section, Akhil Grover of Law Department – first, Lakhwinder Kumar of Civil Engg. – 2nd and Rishi Walia of Physics Department got 3rd position. In the 65 Kg to 75 Kg category, 1st – Sadianoor Rahman of Architecture Department; 2nd – Awish of Comp. Sci Department and 3rd place was given to Sheikh Samuel of University Business School.

He said that in the 75 Kg to 85 Kg category Anish Mahajan of University Business School got first position, Rajvir Singh of History – 2nd and Shrikant Arya of Guru Ramdass School of Planning remained in third position. Similarly in the Above 85 kg category, first position – Daya Singh of Guru Ramdass School of Planning, second – Kewin of History Department and third position was declared for Rittish Sharma of Punjab School of Economics.
In the Women’s section, he said that, in the Up to 50 Kg category, 1st – Simran of University Business School; 2nd – Tanisha of Physics Department and 3rd position was dacled for Ishman kaur of University Business School. In the 50 Kg To 60 Kg category, Arshia of Comp. Engg got first position, Ishneet Kaur of Architecture Department – second and Garima of Architecture Department positioned at third. In the Above 60 Kg category Divya Seth of Political Science – first; Diksha of Physics Department – second and Anureet kaur of Physiotherapy Department declared third this championship.

He said that with the blessings of Vice Chancellor sir Prof (Dr) Jaspal Singh Sandhu and under the guidance of Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean Student’s Welfare of the University, these championships were concluded successfully. Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi and Dr. Amandeep Singh presented trophies to the winners. Prof. Bedi said that students should participate in sports activities alongwith their formal studies for their overall development.
