Song & Drama Division presents cultural show at Attari border
Amritsar, Feb 22 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Song and Drama Division of the Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in coordination with the Border Security Force presented a special cultural programme at Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post, today. The program was focused on ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshth Bharat’ and ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’.
Embedded with folk dances of various states, the program was inaugurated by DIG, BSF, Amritsar, JS Oberoi, who was the Chief Guest of the event along with Commandant Sudeep as Guest of Honour by lighting a lamp. Besides presenting a skit on ‘Beti-Bachao-Beti Padhao’ artists of Song & Drama Division enthralled the audience with folk dances of Jammu-Kashmir, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab.
While addressing thousands of visitors assembled at Attari border to watch the famous retreat ceremony, DIG Oberoi said that daughters are very important for creating a better society. He said since 2015 when the ‘Beti-Bachao-Beti Padhao’ pogramme was launched at the national level, there is an increase in their ratio. People have started understanding the value of daughters who are an integral part of the society.
On this occasion, six budding girl players from border villages and three first women sarpanches from village Rattan Khurd, Roranwala Khurd and Chakla Bakhsh were also honoured. Besides officers of BSF, Asstt Director, Song & Drama Division, Baljit Singh and Field Publicity Officer of Directorate of Field Publicity, Rajesh Bali were also present.
