Amritsar, Jun: 4 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Minister for School Education, Environment and Freedom Fighters OP Soni today attended a valedictory session of the two days workshop on School Library Services and Library Development Plan held at District Library Amritsar. The workshop was organized in collaboration with National Reading Mission 2022 and was attended by around 40 representatives and librarians from public and private schools of the district. The aim of this workshop was to train librarians to build better libraries in schools in order to compete in this age of information technology and e-libraries.
While addressing the attendees Sh. Soni applauded the organizers for taking an initiative to revive this art. The minister said that the habit of reading in a library has to be revived in order to bring the students of today in tune with the future challenges of education and information. The minister praised the District Librarian Dr. Prabhjot Sandhu who in spite of all odds has kept the district library functional. He instructed the District Education Officer Mrs. Sunita Kiran to do the survey of all the public libraries of the district and provide infrastructure so that the libraries may function properly. He praised the regular visitors of the library for keeping the habit of reading alive.
