Chandigarh, Jan. 29 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday condoled
the death of former Union Defence Minister George Fernandes, who passed away in Delhi at the age of 88, following a prolonged illness. Captain Amarinder Singh said Fernandes will be remembered as one of the most prominent leaders of the socialist movement of the 1970s. A fearless politician, he played an important role in the Indian polity, said the Chief Minister, adding that in his death, the nation had lost an astute leader. The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, praying for strength for them to bear the loss.
