Amritsar, Oct. 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Department of Water Supply and Sanitation and Bharti Foundation, the
philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises today announced the winners of “SadaPind-SwacchaPind” poster design contest at a function held at Bachat Bhavan in the presence of Shri Vishesh Sarangal Additional Deputy Commissioner-Development, Yadwinder Singh Dhillon Superintending Engineer DWSS Amritsar and Mr. Atul Bakshi, Head-Sanitation, Construction and Supply Chain Management of Bharti Foundation, and other senior officials from DDWSS and Bharti Foundation. Posters submitted by Miss Mehak Kaur of Government Sr. Secondary School, Manwala kalan in the class 9th-12th category, Miss SharenaJit Kaur of Satya Bharti School Chananke in the class 6th to 8th category, Miss Sandeep Kaur of Satya Bharti School, Kiddowali in the class 3-5thcatergory were adjudged best posters.
The contest was launched to commemorate “Swachhta Hi Seva”campaign in August 2019 and aimed at raising awareness levels amongst young children on good sanitation practices and encourage them to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene for a cleaner and safer environment. The contest was made open for all students from Class 3rd to Class 12th in Government and private schools across rural Amritsar. Alongside this a contest of DWSS staff was also organized to infuse positive energy among team and to recognize contribution of staff in executing “Swachh Bharat Mission”. The staff contest was open from 10th Aug to 15th Sept 2019.
The competition received enormous response from rural areas. The final entries from each school were evaluated at the district level by an eminent jury comprising officials from Department of Water Supply and Sanitation, Department of Education, teaching faculty from “Fine Art” department of Govt. Khalsa Girls College, Amritsar, and officials from Bharti Foundation. The staff performance was evaluated basis the completion of toilets taken place during contest period.
