Dharam Parchar Committee Chief Khalsa Diwan  observes Shaheedi Saptah

Amritsar, December 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – To commemorate the supreme sacrifice of the four Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri, Shaheedi Saptah was observed by Dharam Parchar Committee Chief Khalsa Diwan at  SGHPS G.T Road auditorium by organizing Poetic recitation, Kawishri Gayan, lectures and religious songs. Dr. DharamVeer Singh Principal/Director accorded a warm welcome to the members of the management. Divinity teachers Yadwinder Singh and Sukhwinder Singh recited Kawishri dedicated to the Sahibzadas. Navneet Kaur a student of class VI recited a Punjabi poem “Ik si Ajit Ik si Jujhar”. Boys of class VI recited a poem glorifying the Sikh history of sacrifice and courage. Jasmeet Kaur and Agamnoor Singh recited poems on the great sacrifices made by Sahibzadas. Students of Khasla Orphanage threw light on the sacrifices of the four sahibzadas.

                Speaking on the occasion Swinder Singh Kathunangal Honorary Secretary Chief Khalsa Diwan quoted the words of Guru Gobind  SinghJi “I have sacrificed my four sons for Sikh Panth, so what if my four sons are dead, when thousands of my Gursikhs are alive.” He further said that the four beloved sons of Guru Gobind Singh showed utmost valour and stood up against the tyranny of Mughal Empire. They are our real Superheroes and we must draw inspiration from their lives.

                Nirmal Singh President Chief Khalsa Diwan urged the principals of CKD schools to observe Shaheedi Saptah in their school every year so that the students remain rooted to their rich sikh history.

                Paying rich tributes to the ultimate sacrifice of the Sahibzadas, Bhag Singh Ankhi Chariman Dharam Parchar Committee said that the month of December has special significance for the  Sikh community as it was in this month that the whole family of the tenth master, Guru Gobind Singh Ji was separated at Sirsa River. The Chairman added that the elder sons of the Tenth Guru, Sahibzada AjitSingh  and Sahibzada Jujhar Singh attained martyrdom while fighting in the Battle of Chamkaur and the  younger sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh were  bricked alive by  Wazir Khan at Sirhind. On hearing about their martyrdom, Mata Gujri also breathed her last. He also said that supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzadas needs to be disseminated in the young generation as a true example of standing up for what is just and righteous. Prof. Hari Singh Member Incharge addressing the congregation said that the lessons of truthfulness and honesty have been passed down through our Gurus. He added that Guru Gobind Singh Ji sacrificed his family for our living without a single complaint. “The Martyrdom of the Sahibzadas teaches  us the values of love, courage and sacrifice” he said Sikhs  all around  the world remember this day with respect and honour for the Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri ji who sacrificed their lives for their faith and religion. He informed that various religious competitions are being organized online at U-tube channel of Dharam Parchar Committee.

                 Prof. Waryam Singh Member Incharge Central Khalsa Orphanage in his speech said that the supreme sacrifice of the Guru’s family is a huge source of motivation for the Sikh community. Continuing with his speech he added that the children should be imbibed with the values of sacrifice, courage and love. The participants were awarded with certificates and medals by the members of management. Gurcharan Singh Gharinda proposed vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of the participants.

                   The programme was attended by Resident President Harminder Singh, Jasbir Singh Sabar, Pardeep Singh Walia, Gurpreet Singh, Ms. Jaswinder Kaur Mahal Principal Oprhanage,  Principal of CKD Schools and teachers of host school.
