Mamun, February 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Western Command Investiture Ceremony will be held on 6th February
2021 with military elan and splendour by the ‘Gurj Division’ under the aegis of Rising Star Corps to honour the exceptional bravery and outstanding service rendered by officers and soldiers of the Indian Army. Western Command is one of the largest operational commands of the Indian Army which guards the fertile heartland of the country along the Western Borders including parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Located at the foothills of the mighty Dhauladhar ranges, Mamun Military Station lies at the cusp of two States of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. This unique intersection has been at the centre stage in past wars and has thus been aptly chosen as the venue for this solemn ceremony.
The ceremony shall witness awardees being felicitated for various acts of gallantry as well as exceptional devotion to duty and service to the Nation. The awards will include presentation of one Yudh Seva Medal, 35 Sena Medals for Gallantry, Six Sena Medals for Distinguished Service & 10 Vishisht Seva Medals. Also, 18 select units of Western Command which have distinguished themselves professionally will be presented with General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command Unit Appreciation Award. Lieutenant General RP Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, shall be presenting these awards on 06 Feb 2021.The function will be graced by various Senior Military and Civil dignitaries of the region.
