Sessions Judge and Chief Judicial Magistrate made surprise visit to Central Jail

Instructs for maximum inclusion of prisoners in sports, yoga & constructive activities

Kapurthala, February 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – District and Sessions Judge Kapurthala Mr. Kishore Kumar, Mr. Ram Kumar Singla Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mr. Jaspal Verma Additional District Magistrate Kapurthala and Sessions Judge Kapurthala and Mr. Ajit Pal Singh Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority Kapurthala made a surprise inspection of the Central Jail.

             Session Judge has directed the Jail Administration and District Legal Services Authority Kapurthala to ensure the provision of free lawyer services to every needy detainee and prisoner. Prisoners serving sentences can take advantage of free legal aid and appeal to higher courts, he added. He also said that orders have been issued to settle the custody cases in the district courts on priority basis.

                During the inspection they also visited the Women’s Barracks and listened to the problems of women detainees besides instructing the jail administration to pay special attention to the cleanliness of the cooking area and to keep the food covered and provide clean drinking water.

              Hon’ble District and Sessions Judge issued directions to the Superintendent Central Jail Kapurthala to take special care of cleanliness in the jail premises.
