Vaccination in Guru Nanak Dev University crosses 1000 mark

Amritsar, May 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Keeping in view the health of the Faculty Non-teaching staff and Students of the university in the current COVID-19 pandemic Guru Nanak Dev University took a novel initiative of setting up its own immunization centre with the vaccines very graciously provided by the office of Civil Surgeon, Amritsar.

            Today the landmark of 1000 vaccination has been completed and the university has been able to cover most of its employees over the age of 45 years. Dr. Balwinder Singh Professor Incharge Health Centre who was specifically given the task of assuring the optimal working of the health centre during this difficult time, is maintaining a complete data base of the employees of the university and prioritizing the vaccination of frontline workers first.

            Most of the employees have taken the first dose of vaccine with the second round coming within the next week. All the safety measures of vaccination along with complete facility for storage of vaccine have been setup in the university health centre. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu Vice Chancellor specifically thanked Dr. Balwinder Singh, Dr. Harpreet Kaur and Dr. Pawan Sharma for playing a very proactive role in the GNDU’s novel campaign of vaccinating all who are eligible as per government norms. He further said that this would ensure that working of university will come back to normal within the shortest possible time.
