Dr. Bibi Jagir Kaur expresses grief over death of Sikh scholar Darshan Singh Tatla

Amritsar, July 7 (Punjab Post Bureau) – SGPC Bibi Jagir Kaur expressed deep grief on the death of England resident Dr. Darshan Singh Tatla (74), a leading scholar who worked tirelessly on the history and migration of Sikhs at home and abroad.

                 Dr. Darshan Singh Tatla had recently passed away from a heart attack in England.

               Bibi Jagir Kaur paying homage to Dr. Darshan Singh said that his contribution to Sikh literature could not be forgotten.

                 It is notable that Dr. Darshan Singh Tatla wrote more than a dozen books and edited many books. He wrote historical works on the migration of Sikhs.

                SGPC had entrusted Dr. Darshan Singh Tatla with the responsibility of the Sikh Archives project started at Panth Ratan Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra Institute of Advanced Studies in Sikhism Bahadurgarh Patiala. As an experienced and expert scholar for this project, a final blueprint had been drawn up with the services of Dr. Tatla and work was to begin soon.

                Bibi Jagir Kaur said that Dr. Darshan Singh Tatla’s sudden demise is a great loss to Sikh community.

                Meanwhile, SGPC chief secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami, director of Jathedar Tohra Institute Dr. Chamkaur Singh, member sub-committee on Sikh Archives Project Dr. Balkar Singh, Jathedar Jarnail Singh Kartarpur also expressed grief over the demise of Dr. Tatla’s demise.
