Amritsar, April 3 (Punjab Post) – BBK DAV College for Women organized a series of activities under the “Green Bharat” A Two-Week Impact Challenge to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students. The initiative concluded with a tree plantation drive on the college campus, during which nearly 20 saplings, including camphor, bay leaf, and clove, were planted. The plantation was carried out by the Chief Guest, Shri Jatinder Singh Moti Bhatia Mayor Amritsar along with the worthy Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia.
The Chief Guest lauded the college for organizing such meaningful activities. He appreciated the active participation of students and encouraged them to continue contributing towards environmental protection and sustainable development. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia also appreciated the efforts of the NSS unit of the college, stating that such initiatives are essential in nurturing environmental responsibility among the youth.
During the programme, a Poster Making Competition on the theme “Green Bharat” was organized to encourage creative expression among students on environmental protection and sustainability. A Green Pledge was also administered by Dr. Surbhi Dhir and Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal NSS Programme Officers wherein students pledged to safeguard the Earth and its natural resources.
An online quiz on “Energy Saving” was also conducted through a digital platform. A total of 19 students participated enthusiastically, reflecting their awareness and commitment to energy conservation. In quiz competition, Kiranpreet Kaur (BBA Semester VI) secured the first position, Pranjal Jain (BBA Semester VI) won the second position, and Simarpreet Kaur Aulakh (B.Sc. Biotechnology Semester IV) got the third position. In the Poster Making Competition, Ritika Sharma (B.Com Semester VI) secured the first position, followed by Sanampreet (B.Sc. Computer Science Semester IV) in second place, and Rajinder Kaur (B.A. Semester VI) in third place.
