National Lok Adalat organized at District Court Complex

Amritsar, Feb. 14 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Under the able guidance of Hon’ble Mr.Justice S.S.Saron, Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana and Executive Chairman, Punjab Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh a National Lok Adalat was organized at District Court Complex today. This National Lok Adalat was organized under the supervision of Sh.Gurbir Singh, Learned District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Amritsar.

In accordance with decision taken by National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, the National Lok Adalats shall be organized from February 2015 to October 2015 on monthly basis and every month National Lok Adalat on a specified category of cases. Accordingly today the National Lok Adalat was organized regarding the Bank and Recovery matters including cheque bouncing cases.

Sh.Gurbir Singh, Learned District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Amritsar said that general public should avail maximum benefits from these Lok Adalats as the decisions thereof are final and even the court fee paid is also refunded in case of settlement of a case through Lok Adalats.

At District Headquarter three benches of National Lok Adalats were constituted which were presided over by Sh.Muneesh Arora, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Amritsar, Sh.Shaminder Pal Singh, Judicial Magistrate Amritsar and Ms.Sherryl Sohi, Judicial Magistrate Amritsar. Similarly at Sub Division Ajnala Sh.Hem Amrit Mahi presided over the Lok Adalat Bench and Sh.Manmohan Lal, JMIC presided over the lok adalat bench at Baba Bakala Sahib. Thus a total number of 5 benches were constituted in the entire District Amritsar.

A total number of 693 cases were taken up in this National Lok Adalat and 105 cases were settled involving awards/settlement for an amount of Rs.2,35,63,711/-
