Punjab Governor pays Obeisance at Golden Temple and Durgiana Mandir

Amritsar, Aug. 23 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore visited the holy city. He paid obeisance at Golden Temple and Durgiana Mandir and offered floral tributes at the historic Jallianwala Bagh on his maiden visit to the city after taking oath as Governor of Punjab.

Accompanied by his wife, son, daughter, daughter in law and grand children, Police Commissioner, Amritsar Mr. Amar Singh Chahal and Deputy Commissioner, Sh Varun Ruzam, the Governor visited Golden Temple where he was greeted by Secretary Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President and other SGPC functionaries.

       Shri V.P. Singh Badnore took the full round of parkarma and was much impressed by the ambience. After paying obeisance inside the sanctum sanctorum, he was honoured inside the Information Office of the Golden Temple SGPC Secretary presented him a shawl, a model of Golden Temple and a set of religious books.

       Talking to media, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore  said that it was a thanks giving visit to the holy place and to obtain the blessings of Almighty so that he could discharge his responsibilities according to the Constitutional rules assigned by the Constitution of India for the Governor.

       Sharing his experience of visit to the Golden Temple with media, Mr. V.P. Singh Badnore said that the place transcends man to a higher pedestal, makes him more spiritual and less mundane and he comes out with purified heart and soul. Replying to a query regarding his future plans for Punjab, the Governor said that Punjab is one of the most important States of India as it produces a large share of foodgrains required to meet the needs of Indians and the farmer of Punjab has the grit, determination and capacity to produce enough foodgrains for the entire Asia. So, he would take stock of the conditions prevalent in the State and as the Governor and in his personal capacity took will put in his utmost for the betterment of Punjab and Punjabis.

       The Governor along with his wife visited the historic Jallianwala Bagh and placed floral wreaths at the Flame of Liberty. Later, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore paid obeisance at Durgiana Temple and was honoured by the members of the Durgiana Trust.Earlier on his arrival at Circuit House, a police contingent presented Guard of Honour to the Governor. Later on, the Governor along with his family visited Wagah border.
