
Amritsar, October 10 (Punjab Post Bureau)- Keeping the festive spirit alive, DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar celebrated Dussehra with great enthusiasm. The festival of Dussehra signifies the victory of goodness over evil, light over darkness and happiness over gloom. The students of the school spoke on the significance of the festival, recited poem and enacted a role play. They took an oath to stand for justice and to remove all negativity from their mind and detoxify the body and soul.
The school also observed the International Day of girl child. The achievements of Indian women in various fields were highlighted during assembly. Students emphasised that education can transform the lives of girls and can strengthen their communities. The whole atmosphere echoed with the slogan. ‘Save the girl child’ and ‘Educate the girl child.’
Regional Director Punjab Zone A Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar sent their best wishes to the students and teachers on the auspicious day of Dussehra. They also urged the students that girls are in no way less than boys and there is an urgent need to change the mindset of the Indian society which views girls as liabilities. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school, blessed the students and advised them that mere knowledge is of no use if it is not put to good use. She said that she expected her students to be ideal citizens of the nation and bring fame to their country by their good deeds.
