Amritsar, October 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A.S. Brar inaugurated the newly constructed buildings of Sports Hostel for Men and Sports Hostel for Women of Guru Nanak Dev University.
Prof. Brar said that these sports would be beneficial for the out station sports personal. He said that Guru Nanak Dev University is committed for the upliftment of sports infrastructure and facilities as this University is among the best sports Universities of the country. This University has produced a good number of international and national level sports personal. Prof. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Registrar said that more sports infrastructure would be developed shortly keeping in view the requirements of sports men and women. Er. H.S. Tinna, Incharge Bhai Lalo Construction Department said that Sports Hostel for Girls is constructed with the cost of 2.48 crores and this four story building covering 15836 sft. Area would house 100 girl students. He said that similarly Sports Hostel for Boys is constructed with the cost of 3.16 crore and this four story building covering 20963 sft. Area would accommodate 144 students. Prof. K.S. Kahlon, Dean, Students Welfare, Dr. R.K. Mahajan, Dean, College Development Centre, Prof. T.S. Banipal, Director, Research, Dr. H.S. Randhawa, Deputy Director Sports, Sh. Tirath Singh, Incharge, Computer Centre, President and Secretary, Guru Nanak Dev University Officers Association and AEs, JEs & Staff of Engineering Deptt Faculty members, students and scholars of the University were present.
