HoA Helped Amritsar to Figure on International Map- Chhina

Amritsar, Dec 7 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Bhartiya Janata Party executive member and former Chairman Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today said that the recently concluded Heart of Asia (HoA) Conference, addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has put the `holy city’ on the international map of diplomatic affairs. He said that 66 official delegates from a number of foreign countries discussed and debated issues of foreign relations with primary focus on development, eradication of poverty, trade, commerce and security related matters including terrorism.

Chhina said that Amritsar had been traditionally a trade route linking whole of India to Afghanistan, Middle East and east Europe. “The Conference showcased the city as hub of trade and commerce and how it can play pivotal role in the development of business from India to Afghanistan and even up to Europe’’, said he in a statement issued here. He also stated that the new silk route that is developing would primarily originate from the holy city of Amritsar.

He shared the common view point that was witnessed during the business talks that neighbouring Pakistan was the stumbling block to the growth of business and trade. “The security related issues in Pakistan is hampering the growth of the trade ties. We can only hope that Pakistan also adopt the path of the development and peace, negating terrorism from its soil, which will help whole of South Asia to follow the path of prosperity by overcoming the poverty and hunger. He thanked PM Modi and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley  for choosing the city to showcase its rich cultural heritage to the delegates.
