Establishment of AIIMS at Amritsar sought

Amritsar, 2 February (Punjab Post Bureau)- Amritsar Vikas Manch (AVM)  has demanded the establishment of the  AIIMS in Amritsar also.

 In a letter to   Prime Minister Mr Narinder Modi, Finance Minister  Mr. Arun Jaitley and Rajya Sabha member Shwait Malik, AVM Patron Dr. Charanjit Singh  Gumtala has welcomed the Centre’s decision of establishing  All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Gujrat and Jharkhand in the current budget .In 2014 Lok Sabha elections Mr. Arun Jaitley promised to establish AIIMS in Amritsar.When  Modi government came in power in the centre, AIIMS was allotted to Punjab. But instead of establishing it in Amritsar, it was established in Bathinda  and Prime Minister Narendra Modi  laid the foundation stone on 25 November 2015.If established in Amritsar, it will be helpful to the patients from neighboring states like Himachal Pradesh , Jammu and Kashmir. Amritsar has also International Airport  and foreign airlines also have direct flights, so patients from foreign countries will also come for treatment .So it will boost the economy of the Punjab also.
