Two days outreach programme organized at GNDU

PPN1503201718Amritsar, March 15 (Punjab Post Bureau) –  A two-day outreach programme at Ranian village was organized  by the Department of Education of the  Guru Nanak Dev University. A large number of students and research scholars of the department participated in this programme. The village Ranian has been adopted by the University for its upliftment and development as per the instruction of the government. The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness among the villagers about their health and sanitation, skill education and cashless transaction. The members were welcomed by the Sarpanch S. Kehar Singh in the village school. A technical session was carried out by the research scholars. In this session, awareness was provided to the villagers about Skill Education and Cashless Transactions by showing them documentary films and other informative videos. An interaction session of the students and the villagers was also organized. The villagers discussed their problems and queries with the students of the department.  A survey was conducted by the department students in order to collect data about the villagers regarding their socio-economic problems and a street play showing the ill effects of drugs was also performed by the students of M.A. (Education). Navkeerat Kaur, Assistant Professor from the department talked over the Health and Sanitation in detail with the villagers. The students of the village school were provided sanitation kits in which basic hygiene essentials were included.  Professor and Head of  Department, Dr. Amit Kauts addressed the villagers and discussed about various skill development programmes which can benefit the villagers. He further thanked the village Sarpanch for making all the required arrangements to make the programme successful. He also motivated the students to put maximum efforts to serve the village through this outreach programme. The whole programme was coordinated by Dr. Franky Rani. Head of Department . She said that such programs should be repeated after at least two months. The students of the department expressed that they felt privileged to be part of the programme. Students expressed their experience as an inspirational, enriching and requested the department for such opportunities in future as well.
