Amritsar, May 10 (Punjab Post Bureau) –
MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla visited Punjab’s first special Government High School Karampura (Ranjit Avenue) School known by the name of Pehal School. The function was organised by Human Help Line Organisation, an NGO working to provide books and bags to the deserving and special children. Mr. Aujla distributed books and pencils to the students.
The teachers and staff of the school informed Aujla about the lack of facilities and infrastructure of the school which were promised by the previous government. The management informed about the embezzlement of Rs.75 lakhs which were allotted by government for the construction of a hostel at the school. The issue of non-payment of the salaries to the teachers was also reported to Aujla.
Aujla immediately offered to pay a certain amount for the salary to the teachers from his own salary. He also assured that MLAs and other organisation/individuals will also be involved to provide the salaries until government grant funds to the school. Taking quick notice of the embezzlement of Rs.75 lakhs MP Aujla ordered the concerned department to report the entire matter to him so that he may take up the matter with Chief Minister. According to an official letter dated 28-1-2014 by XEN Panchayati Raj Public Works Amritsar to DGSE, Sarav Siksha Abhiyan Authority Ajitgarh an amount of Rs.71 lakhs was used for the construction of 4 dormitories, toilet block, kitchen and dining hall at Government High School, Karampura (Ranjit Avenue). Later on DEO, Amritsar after investigation reported to State Project Director Sarav Siksha Abhiyan Authority Ajitgarh that a mere formality of construction was done at the school and nothing was done as per the proposed plan therefore the construction was not fit for inhibition. Aujla presented this representation to the Chief Minister today and it was assured that a strict inquiry will be done and culprits will not be spared.
