Amritsar, Sept. 27 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Shaheed Bhagat Singh an influential revolutionary of the Indian
Independence movement was born on 28th Sept, 1907 in a Punjabi Sikh family. On this occasion, the students of DAV Public School Lawrence Road paid rich tribute to this great freedom fighter by remembering his sacrifices for the nation. The students sang patriotic songs, recited poems and also presented a role–play. The role –play depicted a few of his many revolutionary activities and sacrifice of his personal life over his love for the country. The heart–touching scene of this death sentence moved the audience to the core and the school premises reverberated with the slogans of ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ and ‘Jai Hind’ .His dedication, determination and conviction to see the country free was praised and appreciated by the students through their speeches and poems .In the end they took a pledge to follow his footsteps and bring laurels for the nation.
Regional Director Punjab Zone A Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school , Dr. Rajesh Kumar Principal DAV College Amritsar sent his best wishes for the students on this occasion and advised them to be ideal and patriotic citizens of the country.
Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school while addressing the students asked them to remember the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters like Shaheed Bhagat Singh for the sake of the country. She added that our true homage to the great soul would be when we become loyal to our country and work for its progress. She stressed that being a part of every progressive movement of the country like cleanliness drive is paying true homage to them and walk on the path shown by them.
