Jalandhar, Oct. 2 (Punjab Poat Bureau) – In order to create an environment of cleanliness across Jalandhar
Cantonment, a special cleanliness drive was organized by all ranks of Vajra Corps from 15th Sept. 2017. The two weeks initiative, keeping in consonance with the motto ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ involved not only the service personnel but also the defence civilians. During the cleanliness drive, the serving defence perosonnel concentrated on cleaning the residential and office spaces by removal of wild vegetation. The Station Headquarters Jalandhar in coordination with Cantonment Board Jalandhar undertook a special drive to clear all the roads of wild shrubbery and to clean all rain water drains, sewage lines and garbage pits in the cantonment. The two week long cleanliness drive culminaton 2nd Oct 2017 wherein, all personnel of the Vajra Corps took the Swachhta Shapath. A shramdan was organized thereafter to celebrate the day as Swachh Gandhi Jayanti. The whole hearted volunteer participation by all ranks and file of the Vajra Corps ensured that the drive was a resounding success and resulted in mass awareness amongst the residents of need for clean and green environment for a healthy living.
