Amritsar, Feb. 27 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Public School Lawrence Road paid homage to the
great martyr Chandra Shekhar Azad on his martyrdom day that falls on February 27. He was a great Indian freedom fighter. His fierce patriotism and courage inspired others of his generation to enter freedom struggle. He was an Indian revolutionary who reorganised the Hindustan Republic Association under the new name of Hindustan Socialist Republic Association (HSRA) after the death of its founder Ram Prasad Bismil.
The students sang patriotic songs and recited poems highlighting his revolutionary life. The faculty members of the school read out excerpts from his inspirational life and highlighted that he chose to sacrifice his life and live up to his resolve that he would never be arrested and would die a ‘free man’. He fired at his own temple and laid his life for the nation. In the end the students took a pledge to lead their life with same conviction and determination as Chandra Shekhar Azad.
Regional Director Punjab Zone – A Dr. Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar in their message to students said that they must take inspiration from the life of the great revolutionary and join hands for he betterment of the country. Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school said that Azad was a real hero who gave up everything to free the country from the shackles of slavery. She advised everyone to stand for justice and brotherhood.
