Amritsar, Mar. 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Third Inter-Colleges Khalsa Institutions Youth Festival-2018 today began to a colorful start as various competitions including fine arts, shabad recitals, poetry, rangoli, poster-making, debate, extempore, kawishri, skit, mimicry, clay event witnessed students competing amongst themselves at Khalsa College for Women. The two-day long festival will have hundreds of students from 19 institutions under Khalsa College Charitable Society to compete in over 30 items. The festival was inaugurated by Khalsa College Governing Council Honorary Secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina who welcomed the participants who arrived from all over the state to take part in the festival. He said the youth festival was started three years back to provide the students an opportunity to showcase their talent in diverse fields.
The festival is an in-house program which was envisaged following the increase in the Khalsa institutions in the recent years. Chhina elaborated that these competitions help the students to polish their skills to compete for other inter-colleges and even inter-university youth festivals. The campus of the Women’s college was tastefully decorated for the festival. Earlier Principal of Khalsa College for Women, Dr. Sukhbir Kaur Mahal welcomed the guests and said that on seeing the growth in numbers of colleges in the last one decade the decision was taken to arrange an in-house youth festival for providing the students an opportunity to showcase their talent in various disciplines.
KCGC Joint Secretary S. Sukhdev Singh Abdal, S. Sardool Singh Manann, KCA Principal Dr. Mehal Singh, KCE Principal, Dr. J.S.Dhillon, Khalsa College of Pharmacy Principal, Dr. RK Dhawan, Dr.SP Kaur Dhillon, Principal Neelam Hans, Dr. Jaspal Singh, Festival Coordinator Dr. Jatinder Karu, Registrar Dr. Davinder Singh and others were present during the festival. The judges for the various events included Mrs. Pukhraj, Mrs. Venus Taneja, Dr. Rajesh Sharma, S. Kulwant Singh, S. Sukhpal Singh, Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Mr. Kumar Sambhav, Mrs. Sukhwinder Virk, Mr. Kumar Sambhav, Dr. Sunila and Dr. Darya.
