Amritsar, Apr. 13 (Punjab Post Bureau) – It was a day of celebration at DAV Public School Lawrence Road, as the students celebrated Baisakhi and the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R Ambedkar with great zeal. The students were in a festive mood and began the celebration by praying to Almighty for prosperity throughout the year. The students threw hight on the historical background, significance and relevance of the festival. The event was made colourful through poetic presentation. The jubilation and enthusiasm of Baisakhi was apparent as the students decked up in colourful clothes performed bhangra at the beat of the dhol and sang folk songs.
The students also paid tribute to Dr. B.R Ambedkar whose birth anniversary falls on April 14. The students read out excerpts from his inspirational life. Dr. Ambedkar was one of the architects of the Indian constitution. The students talked about his remarkable efforts to eradicate social evils like untouchability and cast restrictions. Regional Director Punjab Zone –A Dr. Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar sent their best wishes to the teachers and the students on this occasion. Dr. Neera Sharma, Principal of the school blessed the students and the staff. She asked the students to lead an ethical life imbibing the values of honesty, brotherhood, sacrifice and love for the country.
