Army Chief Visits Amritsar to review the security situation

Amritsar, July 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM,VSM, ADC visited Amritsar to review the security situation and operational preparedness of the formations guarding the sensitive frontiers of the Western Theatre in the State of Punjab. He was received by Lt Gen Surinder Singh, AVSM, VSM, Army Commander of Western Command and  Lt Gen Dushyant Singh, AVSM, Corps Commander of the Vajra Corps.

This was the first visit of the Chief to the historical city of Amritsar since he took over the reins of the Indian Army. The General visited the Headquarter of Panther Division where Lt Gen Dushyant Singh briefed him on operational preparedness of the Vajra Corps in view of prevailing situation in the region. The General also interacted with all the Formation Commanders responsible for the defense of Punjab. He appreciated the high standards of military preparedness and level of coordination with BSF in safeguarding the interest of nation in the areas under the command of Vajra Corps.

The Army Chief was accompanied by his wife Mrs Madhulika Rawat, President Army Welfare Wife Association and both of them interacted with service personnel, veterans and families of soldiers and lauded their contribution towards the service of the nation.
