Amritsar, Jan. 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Students of Khalsa College (KCA) brought laurels to the institution by
winning the overall championship in Water Sports Competition held at Hardo Sharan in Pathankot district. More than 100 students from various colleges affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) participated and competed for the three-day-long championship and top positions were bagged by Khalsa College students, said authorities here.
Principal Dr. Mehal Singh hailed the performance of the students and informed that the students won 35 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals with their spectacular performance. He also applauded the efforts of HOD Physical Education department Dr. Daljeet Singh, Bachanpal Singh, coach Balraj Singh, Pawan Kumar and Prof Navneet Singh for their hard work and dedication and emphasized on the importance of effective training for excellence in any sport.
Dr. Daljeet Singh informed that in Rowing competition, Khalsa College scored 52 points against Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar’s 50 points and Guru Nanak Dev University’s 41 points securing first, second and third position respectively. Similarly in Canoeing Championship, Khalsa College scored 23 points and Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar secured 18 points whereas in Kayaking, Khalsa College stood first with 27 points against Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar’s 18 points winning the overall championship.
Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Honorary Secretary of the Khalsa College Governing Council said that it is always an effort of the management to provide every kind of opportunity to the students of institutions running under the Council.
