DAV College Celebrates International Women’s Day

Amritsar, March 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Women Grievances and Redressal Cell, DAV College celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2019 in the college Seminar Hall. This event was organized under the supervision of Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar and members of Women Grievances and Redressal Cell Dr. Parveen Kumari, Convener, Prof. Meenu Aggarwal, Dr. Kiran Bala, Prof. Renu, Prof. Nihita Sharma and Prof. Sanjay Mahajan.

            Anita Devgan, Theatre and Film Artist was the Chief Guest during the event. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar and Dr. Parveen Kumari, Convener, Women Cell welcomed the Chief Guest during the event.  

             While speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar detailed about importance of ‘Women Day’ and said that college has always taken initiative for empowerment of women. He added that today we are living in world empowered by women and women are pioneers everywhere. A woman simply symbolizes progress. He also elaborated examples of prominent womens like Sushma Swaraj, Avni Chauturvedi and Gita Gopinath.  He also stressed that such events helps in making people aware about women’s rights, equality and justice. 

                While speaking on occasion, Anita Devgan Chief Guest shared her own life experiences with students and motivated them to become famous and earn fame so that people can recognize you well with your deeds only. She also said that she has struggled a lot in her own life to achieve her dreams and she appreciated the role played by her mother in grooming her life. She talked about equal rights to men and women and emphasized on the fact that one should not kill his/her dreams if one intends to live a happy life.

            While interacting with students, she said that there should be perfect balance between family and society which helps in making a female self independent and successful in her life. She also stressed on Freedom of women from various social evils prevailing the society.  

             During the occasion, poems were also recited by students Anshul and Sheetal focusing on life of women. Stage was Coordinator by Prof. Nihita Sharma and vote of thanks was given by Dr. Parveen Kumari during the event.

            Dr. Daisy Sharma, Dr. Rajni Khanna, College Administrator, Prof G.S Sidhu, Registrar, Dr. Amita Sharma, Dr. Anita Mahajan, Prof. Nivedita Sharma, Prof. Kamaljeet Rana, Dr. Rajni Bala,Pro Babusha  Prof. Poonam Kumari and members of NSS Unit and Heads of Various Departments were also present during the event.
