2,21,480 Licensed weapons surrendered in Punjab after model code of conduct

Chandigarh, March 19 (Punjab Post Bureau) – After Model Code of Conduct come into force in the Dr. S. Karuna Rajustate in view of Lok Sabha polls, 2,21,480 licensed weapons have been surrendered till March 17, 2019.  Giving details in this regard on Friday, the Chief Electoral Officer Dr. S Karuna Raju said that the surveillance teams had seized 49574 litres of liquor worth Rs 96 lakh. Similarly, the enforcement wings have also recovered large quantity of psychotropic substances amounting to Rs 57.45 crore.
