Army conducts Veterans Outreach Programme at Baba Bakala

Jalandhar, Jun 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – An outreach programme for the Veterans and dependents of Baba Bakala Tehsil was organised by Indian Army, to honour and felicitate our Veterans and their Next of Kins. The Veterans programme was organised under the aegis of Double Victory Brigade on behalf of General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps in continuation to the “Year of the Next of Kin” with the focus being on the welfare of the Veterans and their Next of Kin.  Approximate 300 Veterans and dependents turned up to reaffirm their bond and continued association with the Armed Forces.

 The aim of the programme was to provide a forum to the Veterans and their Next of Kin of Baba Bakala Tehsil to know their grievances with respect to post retirement and other entitled benefits schemes.

 The programme was attended by Brigade Commander accompanied by Chairperson, Double Victory Brigade, Family Welfare Organisation with serving Officers of the Indian Army and Officials of Civil Administration.  A number  of counters were set up to extend the facilities to the Veterans and Next of Kin and dependants including establishment stall from the Record Offices to resolve pension anomalies and other stalls like Veteran Sahayata Kendra, Beas, Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Beas, Army Welfare Placement Node, Jalandhar to carry out balance of pending online registration of the Veterans on the Veteran Sahayata Kendra  portal and register complaints with respect to pension, Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme and Canteen Stores Department facilities.

A medical team, equipped with medical equipment and medicines was also present to provide medical assistance to the visiting Veterans and their dependents.  While addressing, Commander Double Victory Brigade, reiterated the resolve of the Brigade for the holistic welfare of veterans and also apprised of the various facilities being extended to veterans by the Indian Army as well as the Central and various State Governments.  He reassured the gathering that all out efforts are being made by the Army and Civil administration to resolve the grievances of the Veterans and their dependents.  He thanked the Civil administration in extending whole hearted support for successful conduct of the programme.  The overwhelming response from Veterans and their dependents on the spot resolutions of their grievances is the testimony to the fact that the programme culminated with extreme satisfaction for all those who laid down their lives and also those who are leading an honoured civil life after long innings in profession of soldiering.
