Chhina Says Canada will see another chapter of Ddevelopment and progress
Amritsar, Oct 22 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Historic Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) congratulated Canadian
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for the consecutive second impressive win in the elections, the results of which were announced today. Trudeau, who is a seen as a `friend of the Sikhs’ and had given respect to vibrant minority community on Canadian soil, retained power for another term as the Liberals wrest control in Canada.
KCGC honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said the whole community was happy over the results and he hoped that under Trudeau and his Cabinet, the Canada would see another chapter development and progress. “It was a hard fight but Trudeau emerged as a winner. The Sikh community is happy over the outcome”, said Chhina in a statement issued here.
He called Trudeau a charismatic leader whose liberal values and ideology had been accepted by the majority of the forward-looking Canadian society. He also congratulated Sukh Dhaliwal, who won his seat from Surrey Newton saying it a matter of pride for the KCGC and the former student of Khalsa College has won the poll of the parliament for the fourth time and is set to be a Minister in the Canadian government.
Sukh had visited his alma mater Khalsa College last year when Trudeau visited with his Cabinet here and paid obeisance at Golden Temple. Chhina also congratulated two other MPs Randeep Singh Sarai and Sonia Sidhu, for their victory in the polls. They had also visited the College where they had witnessed grand reception by the students in 2018. College Principal Dr. Mehal Singh who also expressed delight over Trudeau’s win said Trueadu’s colleague in Parliament Sukh studied his pre-engineering in the College in 1979-80.
Khalsa College Global Alumni Association President and KCGC Member Dr. Davinder Singh Chhina also said that `this was a proud moment for the Sikhs and Punjabis worldwide’. “Trudeau always stand for the heritage and culture of Khalsas’. The whole community is happy over the election results”, said he adding that the KCGC will invite Trudeau and his colleagues to visit Amritsar and Khalsa College.
Chhina said the Punjabi community has worked hard for development of Canada and they would continue to strive for making Canada most sought after land for the world citizen.
