DC imposes ban on aerial and high decibel fire crackers in Sultanpur Lodhi

Violation of ban to invite six months of imprisonment

Sultanpur Lodhi, Oct 26 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Mr DPS Ban OrdersKharbanda today said that there would be ban on bursting of aerial and heavy fire crackers within Sultanpur Lodhi city and around 20 kilometres radius around the Municipal limits of holy city.

The Deputy Commissioner accompanied by MLA Mr Navtej Singh Cheema held a meeting with the social organisations of the city here today. The Deputy Commissioner said that as tent cities have been erected in the city to cater thousands of devotees coming to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Sahib so in order to avoid any sort of untoward incident in the holy city bursting of all the aerial fire crackers and those with huge voice have been banned. Mr Kharbanda said that this had been ensured to ensure safety and security of people during these days.

The Deputy Commissioner said that those flouting the norms would not be spared at any cost. He said that the violation of these norms could invite a punishment upto six months of imprisonment. Kharbanda said that all of us should celebrate green Diwali by not bursting the crackers and instead lighting the lamps In the entire city to illuminate it.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that there was a complete ban on the smoking of cigarettes and use of tobacco products in the holy city.  He said that anyone found violating these norms would be dealt sternly with heavy hands.

On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahul Chaba, Sub Divisional Magistrate Ms Charumita and Randeep Singh Heer, Mela Officer Ms Navneet Kaur Bal and others were also present.
