Army organises Band Display at Army Public School Beas

Beas, Jan 28 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Double Victory Brigade under the aegis of Vajra Corps organised Army Band PPNJ2801202001Display at Army Public School, Beas today.  In addition to Army personnel the display was witnessed by approx 800 local officials, civilians and school children.  The very purpose of organising the Army Band Display was to spread awareness among local populace regarding work ethos, culture and tradition practiced by the Indian Army which symbolizes high moral values, discipline and character of a soldier.  Such events also help in instilling a spirit of patriotism among the citizens of the country.  The event will help to motivate and inspire the youth including school children in adopting soldiering as their profession.

      PPNJ2801202002 The story of the Indian Regimental Band that we know today is related to the 300 year old history of the British Army Band.  The Regimental Band specializes in playing tunes using pipes and drums.  The Band Display included popular patriotic tunes like “Kadam Kadam Badaye Ja” and “Sare Jahan Se Achha” to instill a feeling of belongingness with the Indian Army.

            The Indianisation of the band began when British rule was over. Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal KM Cariappa confronted the challenge and laid down the foundation of Military School of Music in Pachmarhi (Madhya Pradesh) in 1950.

            Indian Army has a distinct identity in playing military music.  The scintillating performance by the Army band mesmerized the complete audience and they cheered to boost the morale of the troops involved in Band Display.
