Law Department of GNDU organized webinar on Nuances of Legal Practice in the Online Era

Amritsar, April 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The department of Laws of Guru Nanak Dev University organized one day webinar for the students, faculty and members of the legal fraternity.  The theme of the webinar was “Nuances of Legal Practice in the Online Era”. It was a detailed one hour session about the scenario of digitization of legal practice in the prevailing situation of lockdown in the country.

                Dr. Bimaldeep Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Laws was the moderator for the session. He gave the initial address regarding the theme of the webinar. Dr. Singh brought forward the importance of the digital platform for interaction among the faculty members and students. His moot point was that the virtual has become reality now and this thing should be accepted and be made a part of life. Dr. Bimaldeep Singh was very promising in his address when he mentioned that we all are safe in our homes even during these troubled times.
              The inaugural address was delivered by Dean Law J. (Retd.) Rajive Bhalla on the theme of the Webinar. He detailed everything about the relevance of e-courts in the present day scenario and the digitization of the entire system. Justice Bhalla shared his views on the changing scenario of law court rooms and what impact it will have on the lawyers and litigants. He was of the opinion that how we sitting in our homes can argues cases, present our briefs in the post lockdown era. The session ended with vote of thanks from Dr. Bimaldeep singh. There were questions from the audience which were elaborately handed by Dr. Bimal deep Singh and the queries were answered by Justice Bhalla.

                   The webinar was attended by many students and there were teachers and principals like DR. Gulati from Jalandhar, Dr. Jaspal Singh from Amritsar.

             With  continuous endeavors of Department of Laws of the University the online series on law courses the second webinar was held on 23RD April, 2020 on the theme of “Filling a suit, petition and writ’’. The moderator for the session was Dr. Bimaldeep Singh, who congratulated everyone for being a part of the webinar and taking learning experience out of the sessions. The theme was delivered by Dean Law J. (Retd.) Rajive Bhalla. The session was very enriching for the students and faculty members as Justice Bhalla brought forward the practical aspect of lawyering.
           The department of Law feels privileged to announce the upcoming webinar on 24th April 2020 on the theme “Child Custody: Social –Legal Issues: The Future” at 4.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.. The key note speakers are Justice A.K. Sikri, former Judge of Supreme Court of India, Anil Malhotra, Lawyer, author and legal Analyst, J.Rajive Bhalla( Retd.) former Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court.

                 The next session of the online series is on the theme of “Role of Registery in Institution of suit, petition, writ, commissions scenario for the beginners in online practice”.  The moderator for the session is Dr. Renu Saini, Assistant Professor, Department of Laws. The keynote speaker is Advocate Mukesh Nanda, Senior advocate practicing in District Courts Amritsar and Punjab & Haryana High Court.
