A webinar organized by PG Dept. of History/Travel and Tourism DAV College

Amritsar, July 29 (Punjab Post Bureau) – PG Department of History/Travel and Tourism DAV College organized an International webinar on “Remembering Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji: His contribution and significance in History” dedicated to the 400th Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji under UGC Sponsored Gandhian Study Centre. More than 100 scholars, researchers and faculty members participated in the webinar. Prof. Daljeet Singh, Head, Department of Historical Studies, Punjabi University Patiala was the keynote speaker. Other speakers were Dr. Manjinder Singh, Department of School of Punjabi Studies, GNDU, Asr., Dr. Dalvir Singh Pannu, Author, California, USA and Prof. Ravinder Singh, Chief Khalsa Diwan, Asr. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar formally welcomed the guests and Prof. Shilpi Seth, Head PG Department of History/Travel and Tourism introduced the theme of the webinar.

                  Prof. Daljeet Singh initiated the talk by shedding light on the life and martyrdom of ninth Sikh Guru Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji. He spoke in detail about the sacrifices made by the guru all through his life. Dr. Manjinder Singh talked about the significance of martyrdom in the present context. He was supported by Prof. Ravinder Singh who shed light on various circumstances leading to the martyrdom of the guru and Dr. Dalvir Singh Pannu highlighted the various places associated with the lives of Sikh Gurus. The session ended with a valedictory speech by Dr. Harjinder Singh Ji Dilgeer, Director, Guru Nanak Research Institute, Birmingham, UK.

                Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar congratulated Prof. Shilpi Seth and the Department of History/Travel and Tourism for organizing such an informative webinar. Vice Principal Dr. Darshandeep Singh expressed a vote of thanks to all the participants. Prof. Naina Handa from the Department of Computer Science provided technical assistance for conducting the webinar. Others members of the faculty, Dr. Babusha Maingi, Prof. Mohit Mehra, Prof. Munish Singh, Prof. Harman, Prof. Megha Singhal and Prof. Himani were also present at the occasion. Administrator Meenu Aggarwal, Bursar Parveen Kumari and Registrar GS Sidhu also marked their presence at the webinar.
