Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences Launches Online Palliative Care Courses

Amritsar, October 13 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences Sri Amritsar in collaboration with National Association of Palliative Care for AYUSH and Integrative Medicine (NAPCAIM) and Cancer Aid Society launched NAPCAIM Punjab Chapter on the occasion of World Hospice Day.

              Due to present pandemic scenario Virtual Inaugural Ceremony was held in the premises of SGRD University. The lamp lighting ceremony was done by the Chief Guest Dr. Daljit Singh, Vice Chancellor SGRD University of Health Sciences in the presence of Guest of Honour Dr. Moe Abdo Chief Operating Officer Fight Cancer Global USA.

              Dr. Daljit Singh said that this aims at alleviating the sufferings of the chronically ill patients as well as cancer patients through the integration of modern medicine with AYUSH. University will train and offer certificate courses in Palliative care to all the doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff including AYUSH practitioners. This is the much-needed initiative specially for cancer patients of northern region who will be offered best palliative care as per world standards.

              The course was endorsed by USA based Fight Cancer Global and Dr. Moe Abdo grace the occasion virtually from America.

              Dr. A.P Singh Dean University said that the University is committed to providing world-class education to the students. He said that this initiative will be of immense benefit for the patients of chronic illnesses and cancer who need long term care with holistic approach.

Other founder members of NAPCAIM Punjab Chapter, Dr. Meena Sudan, Dr. Ruchi Gupta, Dr. Harjot Singh, Dr. Paramjot Bindra, Dr. Rahat Sharma, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Amritpal Singh Brar, Dr. Pooja Sadana, Dr. Manisha Nagpal, Dr. Piyush Mahajan, Dr. Jatinder Punj and Dr. Sahil Kundra were also present during the occasion.
