MLA Rana Gurjit Singh and DC distributes cheques to 5 Panchayats worth Rs. 1.49 crore
Kapurthala, November 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – In a major boost to save the ground water from contamination, the Punjab Government has selected the kapurthala assembly constituency for Pilot project, under which the village ponds would be cleaned and realigned to further use their water for Irrigation purposes.
The Punjab Government has also sanctioned Rs. 7.37 crore for that , out of which the MLA Rana Gurjit singh and Deputy commissioner Kapurthala Deepti Uppal has distributed grants worth Rs. 1.49 crore to 5 village Panchayats.
MLA Rana Gurjit singh said that “he has raised the issue with proper plan in the Punjab assembly 2 years ago and the finance minister Mr.Manpreet singh badal has promised to implement this in kapurthala, which was fullfilled today.
He said that it will be a great boost to the clean environment in the villages as besides reducing contamination in underground water, the villagers would get free of cost water for irrigation.
Deputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal has informed that the pilot project would be implemented in 4 months and special officers from the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj to look after the completion of these projects in stipulated time frame.
The grants were distributed to villages Aujla Jogi Rs. 23.38.lakh, Dhaliwal Dona Rs 32 lakh, Khojewala 49 lakh, Kot Krar Khan 23 lakh and Noorpur Dona 23.27 lakh.
