Amritsar, March 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) – An emergent meeting of executive committee, PCCTU was held in DAV
College Amritsar to chalk out further strategies against callous attitude of Punjab Government regarding just and genuine demands of teaching fraternity working in various colleges in Punjab.
The local Unit extended heartiest welcome to the delegates participating the meeting.
In the inaugural session, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal DAV College Amritsar addressed the house and appraised the working of Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union. He shared various issues of the government aided colleges like fall in strength of colleges, policy of the university regarding admission of students in the undergraduate in the university campus and its constituent colleges.
In the meeting salary issue related to Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College Sarhali was discussed and EC members unanimously decided to extend their full support to the Sarhali unit. Further, Dr. BB Yadav Area Secretary GNDU has been given the responsibility to explore the possibilities to resolve the matter. The teachers working in DAV Colleges raised the issue of financial benefits to the Covered and uncovered staff as the DAV College Managing Committee is trying to create a differentiation between the two segments through the Principals. The executive Committee took a serious note of the same and directed the Convenor DAV Colleges Coordination Committee Dr. BB Yadav to raise the issue with the Director Higher Education DAVCMC New Delhi.
The salary issue of Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women was also discussed in detail. The EC members with one voice criticized the move of different managements on Salary issues saying that it is the sole responsibility of the parent institution.
The meeting was concluded by the president PCCTU Dr. Vinay Sophat by remarking that PCCTU will always fight for the rights and dignity of the teacher’s fraternity.
The others office bearers of the executive committee were Dr. Sukhdev Singh Randhawa General Secretary PCCTU, Dr. Ghansham Sharma and Dr. Surjeet Singh Area secretary Punjab University were present in the meeting.
