Pathankot/ Madhopur, April 2 (Punjab Post Bureau) – As part of the ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ commemorating the
military victory of India over Pakistan in the Indo- Pak War of 1971, Swarnim Vijay Mashaalwas carried from Jalandhar to Madhopur, Punjab on April 01, 2021. Madhopur Rail and Road Bridge, over the Ravi River, being a crucial link for the Indian Army into the Jammu Sector, witnessed extensive aerial bombing by Paki Air Force in the 1971 war.
A grand reception was organised at Madhopur, where the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal Team was received by Brigadier Rajeev Kumar and Station Commander, Colonel Amit Thakur. NCC cadets, school children, serving personnel and their families gathered to give a grand welcome to the Team. The Swarnim Vijay Mashaal was given the National Salute and then secured at the Quarter Guard of the Regiment. A grand cultural and eventful celebration is scheduled from April 02 to April 03 to honour the ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ and pay homage to our martyrs of 1971 War.
