Amritsar, 1 November (Punjab Post Bureau) – Giving a reality check to dirt in the streets of the city, Dastak Theater group production staged a Punjabi play ‘Buraa mat soongho’ in the Delhi Public School premises. The satirical comical street play threw light on the creation of another monkey – ‘Burra mat soongho’ (Smell no stink) in addition to father of Nation’s three symbolic monkeys – Hear no evil, speak no evil and see no evil. Taking a dig at the mindset of people in India, the play staged by six actors showed the ‘ ki farak panda hai’ attitude and apathy of the common Indian towards indiscriminate disposal of garbage. Directed by Rajinder Singh and written by Ankit Luthra, the play was sponsored by Union ministry of culture and supported by Sangeet Natak Academy New Delhi informed Mrs Sangeeta Singh principal of the school. Striking at the roots of outlook of a common man it also brought in the symbolism of Shahtabdi express train that refuses to come on the platform as it feels compassion for the early morning arrivals of men who relieve themselves on railway lines. Similarly a little girl refuses to ask a boon of getting a spiderman or a superman and instead asks for a Broom-man for India. The play closed on the note of highlighting that each adult produces 0.2 Kg of garbage daily which he needs to dispose of in the right way. It raised the slogan of “Swacch Bharat’ given by Prime Minister Narinder Modi upholding the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
