DC orders no elective surgery in Government and Private Hospitals in Kapurthala till April 30

Needs more beds at L-2 and L-3 level as covid cases surges

Kapurthala, April 17 (Punjab Post Bureau) – As per the directions passed by the Health Department Punjab, Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala cum District Magistrate Mrs. Deepti Uppal has directed that no hospital, including government and private facilities within the territorial jurisdiction of District Kapurthala will undertake any elective surgery with immediate effect up to 30th April, 2021.

            She said that the increased number of COVID-19 positive cases has started putting more load on the L-2 and L-3 COVID-19 Isolation Facilities, so the district requires more beds for COVID-19 patients at L-2 and L-3 levels.

            In the orders passed today in pursuance of the directions of the Government of Punjab issued vide its letter dated 17.4.2021, and taking into account the prevailing COVID-19 situation in District Kapurthala, Deputy commissioner directs that no hospital will undertake any elective surgery till 30th April, 2021. This Order shall be applicable with immediate effect.

She also made it clear that any violation of this Order shall be punishable under Sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005, besides legal action under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860.
