Third Covid Care Centre inaugurated by SGPC at Bholath
Amritsar, May 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The third Covid Care Centre of 25-beds set up by the SGPC at the Royal Palace in Bholath town of Kapurthala district to provide health services to Covid-19 patients was formally inaugurated by SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur on Wednesday. SGPC senior vice-president Surjit Singh Bhitewad, Akali leader Yuvraj Bhupinder Singh and other prominent personalities were also present.
This Covid Care Center has been attached to Sri Guru Ramdas Medical College and Hospital Amritsar. Eight doctors and 14 nursing staff is deputed here for 24 hours in different shifts. The centre will provide free basic treatment to Covid-19 patients and arrangements have been made to take patients to hospitals in case of emergency.
SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that special efforts are being made by SGPC to serve humanity during the Covid-19 pandemic. She said at Amritsar, 100-beds have been reserved for treatment of Covid-19 patients at Sri Guru Ramdas Charitable Hospital. Special care centres are being set up at various places in Punjab in which oxygen is provided through concentrators. “This is the third such care centre started at Bholath.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that SGPC is making diligent efforts to procure Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine from the United States and a letter was written for its approval and permission of use in India, to the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan.”
An oxygen plant has been set up by the SGPC at Sri Guru Ramdas Medical College Amritsar, but there is a problem in getting liquid oxygen. An appeal has been made to the Government of India for this, but it has not been resolved yet. The necessary clearance has been obtained from the Center for this plant and an agreement has also been signed with INOX Air Products Company for oxygen. However, restrictions on access to liquid oxygen by the Government of India remain an obstacle, Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “
