Amritsar, June 18 (Punjab Post Bureau) – BBK DAV College for Women’s open gym “HealthHub” was inaugurated by Er. Shwait Malik, Member Rajya Sabha. It is noteworthy to mention here that an amount of Rs.700000/- was sanctioned to the college by him for two open gymsunder PWD (B&R) Provincial Division, Amritsar. Speaking on the occasion, Er. Shwait Malik highlighted ‘KheloIndia‘ and ‘Fit India’ movements started by Hon’ble Prime Minister. Bakshi Ram Arora former Mayor of Amritsar appreciated the efforts of Member Parliament Er. ShwaitMalik said that such gyms are beneficial for the better health of the students and the staff.
Two gyms are installed in the college, one in front of the swimming pool complex and another in the hostel.The equipment installed in both the open gyms includes one cycle, one cross-trainer, one twister, multi gym stations and other machines.The aim of this gym is to encourage faculty and students for better health and fitness.
Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia welcoming the Chief Guest said that such open gyms are the need of the hour and it is the best endeavor anyone can makeduring pandemic. Gym will go a long way in maintaining the health of students and faculty. She added that the college has been winner of General Sports championship Trophy for several years and puts a lot of focus on physical fitness and strength.
Sudarshan Kapoor Chairman LMC thanked the Chief Guest. Ex Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora, Anuj Sikka, Gautam and Sandeep Dhawan graced the occasion with their presence. Teaching and Non-Teaching staff of the college participated enthusiastically in the event.
