DC conducts whirlwind tour of Dhusi Bandh reviews flood control arrangements

Nawanshahr, July 3 (Punjab Post Burteau) – Deputy Commissioner Dr. Shena Aggarwal today conducted a whirlwind tour of Dhusi Bandh along with the river Satluj in the district to review the arrangements in wake of coming rainy season.

            Accompanied by officers, the Deputy Commissioner visited the villages near Dhusi Bandh and inspected the arrangements in place for flood control. She also asked the officers/ officials to put in place a viable mechanism for completing all the flood control arrangements before the advent of rainy season. She also directed the officials to strengthen flood prone sensitive places to minimize damage in the rainy season.

            The Deputy Commissioner asked the officers to ensure that the residents of villages do not have to face any sort of problem in the rainy season. She also interacted with the villagers and assured fulsome support and cooperation to them from the district administration.

              The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration has already made adequate arrangements to meet any sort of situation in wake of rainy season. She said that evacuation plan, in case of flood, has already been finalized and the sensitive places have been identified along with the safe places where the residents of flood prone areas would be shifted, if required.

            The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by SDM Nawanshahr Mr. Jagdish Singh Johal, Tehsildar Baljinder Singh, XEN Gurtej Singh Garcha and Works Manager MNREGA Er. Joga Singh, SDO Bikram Singh and others.
