Booklet on Sri Akal Takht Sahib released

Amritsar, July 3 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The booklet ‘Sri Akal Takht Sahib – Jaan Pehchan (Introduction)’ published by the Dharam Prachar Committee was released by Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Bibi Jagir Kaur and other prominent personalities at the Secretariat Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Friday.

               This booklet written by Bhai Mohan Singh Urlana retired granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib contains information related to Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The daily maryada (conduct) of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Nishan Sahib, Nagara, Amrit Sanchar at Takht Sahib, historical tamarind tree and holy historical weapons, a brief history etc. are a part of the booklet. This booklet published by the Dharam Prachar Committee of the SGPC will be distributed free of cost to the Sangat (devotees).

                    While releasing the booklet, Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib said that its release on the occasion of Foundation Day of Sri Akal Takht Sahib holds importance. It was the need of the hour to acquaint the Sangat with the history and traditions of the institutions of the Sikh Panth and it was a commendable initiative of the SGPC to continuously publish and freely distribute the literature among the Sangat.

                   SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that besides publishing various historical pamphlets, the SGPC has also intensified its efforts to reprint the best old printed books.

                  SGPC senior vice president Surjit Singh Bhitewad, General Secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka, member Harjap Singh Sultanwind, Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhayasi, additional secretary. Sukhdev Singh Bhura Kohna, assistant secretary Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Bhai Malkit Singh, Bhai Sultan Singh, Superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal, Gurmeet Singh Honorary secretary Secretariat Akal Takht Sahib, OSDs to SGPC president Dr. Amrik Singh Latifpur and Dr. Sukhbir Singh, former secretary Balwinder Singh Jodasingha and others were also present.
