Police bust Roorkee-based Illegal weapon supply network, Arrests Three

.32 Bore Pistol along with Magazine and a Honda Activa seized

Kapurthala, July 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) –  Kapurthala police busted an Uttarakhand based illegal weapon supply network by arresting its three operatives acting at the behest of gangsters lodged in jails.

            The arrested accused have been arrested as Arshad Salmani of Roorkee Uttrakhand, Honey Hans alias Palli and Rajinder Kumar both residents of Ludhiana.

            Divulging more details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that in charge CIA Phagwara, SI Sikander Singh received a tip-off that Uttarakhand resident Arshad Salmani along with his associates who are in contact with some gangsters lodged in Jails, moving towards Phagwara on a Honda Activa scooter either to supply the weapons to criminal gangsters or to commit some robbery.

               The SSP said that joint police teams of CIA & Sadar police station Phagwara immediately organized a special checking and when the criminals signalled to stop but they tried to flee from the spot but were overpowered by the cops later.

            SSP Khakh said that the police team seized a .32 bore illegal pistol along with two magazines and the Activa Scooter from the possession of the accused.

During the preliminary investigation, the arrested accused revealed that the gang was headed by Arshad Salmani and they use to supply weapons to gangsters from Roorkee on the instances of a gangster Amandeep Singh Babbu lodged in Hoshiarpur Jail.

            SSP said that a case has been registered against them in police station Sadar Phagwara under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms act.

              He added that police would produce them before the magistrate and would seek their further remand to complete investigation and arrest the remaining members of the gang besides would also bring Amandeep Singh Babbu from Hoshiarpur jails on product warrant.
