Coffee Table Book ‘a decade of KCVAS’ Released

Amritsar, August 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A Coffee Table Book ‘A Decade of KCVAS’, giving glimpses of the journey of Khalsa College Veterinary and Animal Sciences was today released by Khalsa College Governing Council secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina in presence of Principal Dr. P.K Kapoor and MD Dr. S.K Nagpal.

            The book is a compilation of rules, regulation, guidelines and activities pertaining to curricular and extra-curricular activities in the College and hostels, said Dr.kapoor. The book he said was conceptualized, edited, compiled and designed by Prof. Om Prakash Kaila, Dept. of Animal Genetics and Breeding and Prof.Satya Bhushan Bakshi Dept. of Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology.

            The book is a pictorial presentation that covers the beginning and the growth trajectory of the College. Starting with the genesis of historical Khalsa College Amritsar, the coffee table book has chronicled the first decade of the College’s existence as pictorial description in over 200 pictures. 

            The hardships faced by the students, college administration and the management during the initial phase, their diligence and hard work to make the venture a success are recorded. It also contains a brief sketch of all Principals to date and senior faculty who completed their tenure and contributed to the growth of the college. 

            The book also covers details of medals awarded to the students over the years along with the information on visitor dignitaries, academic achievers, college clubs, cultural festivities, distinguished alumni and sports awardees. The different changes that took place in the College’s infrastructure and way of functioning, contribution by various heads, the growth journey and the addition to veterinary fraternity at state level has been elucidated.

            The treatise shows that the college has not restricted to academics only but has also extended its domain to overall holistic development of students by cultural and sports activities as well. The pictorial compilation would connect the readers with glorious development of the KCVAS, Amritsar achieved in such a short span of time.

            Dr. Kapoor said the establishment of KCVAS in 2009 added a chapter in the education in veterinary care and treatment and the College had the rare distinction of becoming the first private veterinary College in India recognized by the Veterinary Council of India.
