Bibi Jagir Kaur strongly condemns incident at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib

Says, Forces working behind should be brought to light

Amritsar, September 13 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Bibi Jagir Kaur has strongly condemned that unfortunate incident that took place at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib today.

              In a press statement Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the incident of smoking cigarette by an accused person in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib is highly deplorable that has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh Sangat (community).

             SGPC President said, “Some anti-Sikh forces want to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Punjab by committing such heinous acts and various tactics are being adopted for the same. In the past, many crimes of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib took place in Punjab.”

              A person identified as Paramjit Singh of Ludhiana has been arrested in connection with the incident of smoking cigarette at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib early morning today.

               “The management of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib has lodged a case against the accused under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and handed him over to the police”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

             Bibi Jagir Kaur demanded from the government administration that the intention behind this incident should be ascertained from the accused person and the forces behind this crime should be brought to the light of the Sangat.
