Amritsar, September 22 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Bibi Jagir Kaur termed the orders of the Kejriwal government of Delhi to close Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib as a ‘Nadirshahi’ (dictatorial) decision.
She said that Gurdwaras are the spiritual centers of humanity and also provided humanitarian services.
“The orders to close Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib are a testament to the dictatorial attitude of the Delhi government, which the Sikh community cannot tolerate. The Delhi government should immediately withdraw its decision and apologize”, said SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur.
She reminded Kejriwal that these were the same Gurdwaras that provided langar (food from community kitchen), oxygen, and other services to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The services provided during COVID-19 by Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib in Delhi have also been commended and sadly, today the SDM issued orders to close the same Guru’ house. There is an attempt to suppress the Sikhs under the pretext of COVID-19 which cannot be accepted”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
