On his maiden visit to Kapurthala as Cabinet Minister, receives warm welcome
Kapurthala, October 3 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Cabinet Minister Mr Rana Gurjeet Singh has said that the
recommendations made by the special committee of Punjab vidhan sabha to maintain balance between recharging and extraction of water and an audit of all sectors, for checking the depletion of underground water level in the state would be implemented in true spirit and manner.
The six-member committee, comprised 6 MLAs was constituted in March 2021 under the MLA Rana Gurjit singh to suggest ways and means to replenish ground water level in the state. The committee has already submitted its report to Speaker of Punjab assembly.
Accompanied by his wife and former MLA Rajbans Kaur, the Minister visited first time since taking over as Cabinet Minister at a local rest house here.
He said that the Cabinet Minister said that the committee has recommended various means and ways to save the fastly depleting ground water after getting suggestions from experts based in the Israel-based company and the Department of Water Resources.
The Minister also said that special attention would be given to the completion of the projects initiated by the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi who earlier had the Technical Education Department . The projects included Dr. BR Ambedkar Museum at PTU and Management institute in collaboration with IIM.
He also said that Punjab Technical University Kapurthala and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Technical University Bathinda would make efforts for maximum contribution for the expansion of technical education.
Thanking the Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Mr. Rahul Gandhi and Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi for his elevation as Cabinet Minister, the Minister said that it was a honour of the people of Doaba region. He also said that ” he would remain indebted to the people of Kapurthala constituency for affection shown towards him from the last 22 years”.
Earlier Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Deepti Uppal, SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, Mayor Kulwant Kaur, Additional Deputy Commissioner SP Angra, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Aditya Uppal welcomed the cabinet Minister.
A contingent of Punjab Police also presented Guard of Honor to Cabinet Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh. Councilors of Municipal Corporation Kapurthala and a large number of Congress leaders were also present on the occasion.
